Good to be Home is a weekly exploration of entrepreneurship, family, marriage, sobriety and how we balance our business and life. It’s a weekly podcast “show” hosted by Mika and Russ Perry. I found this website by way of Russ Perry – the founder and CEO of Design Pickle, the world’s most successful flat-rate graphic design service. He’s also the man behind The Creative Syndicate which has been a part of my life since November.
His wife Mika is also a successful entrepreneur with an impressive resume of past vocations and experiences – in business, life and in marriage. Russ and Mika share tips, tricks and sage advice as it relates to balancing business, life, kids, marriage and love. Keep in mind, not everything presented is “Instagram beautiful” (even though her website is stunning). Both Russ and Mika are raw, honest and refreshingly transparent. Like most marriages, they have faced some pretty tough seasons. But their desire and commitment to continue to walk in faith despite these turmoils is highly admirable (and exceedingly rare these days).
Living the life of an entrepreneur is challenging. I’m not going to say “hard” because honestly, the more you get to know people on deeper level, the more you understand that life is hard for everyone – it just is. Being an entrepreneur is challenging. When I first read Russ’ book, I was immediately drawn to his insights and experiences about why and how being an entrepreneur is not only a challenge, it’s also very lonely which I can very much relate to. It’s also hard to tell others about this loneliness. Good to be Home is a great place to visit to tap into the insights of two successful entrepreneurs who strive to work to make this balance work – for them and their family.
Each podcast episode runs between 20 – 40 minutes which makes it a perfect workout length. It also helps that their voices are quite melodic together so it makes for an engaging listen.
If you’re married to an entrepreneur (or if you both are entrepreneurs) and have kids, check them out.
